Max Holloway Accepts Oliveira's Callout for Potential March Showdown

Following Oliveira's victory over Gamrot, Holloway expresses interest in a lightweight bout without delay.

Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira are aligned in their next steps. Following Oliveira’s submission victory against Mateusz Gamrot during the recent fight night, Holloway promptly accepted Oliveira’s callout.

Oliveira had indicated to CBS Sports his eagerness for a BMF title fight with Holloway. “I’m interested,” Holloway stated during a live stream on Kick, adding, “We’ve been discussing this matchup. We have some history, and I suppose it’s time to sort things out.”

He suggested March for the potential fight, claiming the timing is “very feasible.” Even though Holloway suffered a hand injury during his victory over Dustin Poirier last July, he is keen to avoid an extended wait for this fight.

Oliveira endorsed Holloway’s proposed timeline during the post-fight press conference, expressing he would be open to fighting anywhere, saying, “[March] is perfect. It’s the right fight.”

Previously, Holloway and Oliveira faced off in 2015, but that bout ended prematurely due to an esophageal injury suffered by Oliveira just 69 seconds in.
