USWNT Roster Features Returns of Rodman and Shaw, Plus European Players

As the USWNT prepares for its October matches, notable returns include Trinity Rodman and Jaedyn Shaw, along with several overseas players.

The U.S. women’s national soccer team is set to reunite after a 113-day hiatus, with a three-game series in October against Portugal and New Zealand. The squad, featuring 26 players, includes returning stars Trinity Rodman and Jaedyn Shaw, with two of these games also marking retirement celebrations for Alex Morgan and Alyssa Naeher.

“We are extremely excited to get back together with the team,” said head coach Emma Hayes. “There has been a big gap from July until now and we’ve watched many club games. Now, it’s time to start the build towards qualifying for the 2027 World Cup. We want to maximize every minute we have together, push the players, and keep the momentum going. These three fantastic games ahead of us will help us do that.”

The matches will kick off against Portugal on October 23 and 26, wrapping up with a game against New Zealand on October 29. The broader roster aims to optimize player management leading up to the NWSL playoffs starting in November.

Trinity Rodman returns after missing several months due to a back injury but has resumed gameplay with Washington Spirit. She last featured for the USWNT during a victory against Brazil. Meanwhile, Jaedyn Shaw returns following appearances with the U-23 team.

As the team narrows its selection leading to the FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers in 2026, new talents like Kennedy Wesley from San Diego Wave also make their debut on the squad. These preparations highlight U.S. Soccer’s commitment to developing talent at all levels.
