After an illustrious career, which includes winning two FIFA Women’s World Cups, Christen Press, a forward for both Angel City FC and the US women’s national team, has declared her intention to retire at the end of the current NWSL season.
“It’s hard to find the words to say goodbye to a sport that has defined my life for over three decades. Football has given me everything, and I will miss being on the pitch so very much. Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and community for this beautiful ride. I promise we will continue to reimagine sports in this next life,” Press stated.
As she approaches the conclusion of her playing career, she reflects on her journey and the impact she’s made in women’s soccer, both on and off the pitch.
Christen Press is known for her stunning performances and has retired with numerous milestones to her name, including a strong influence in the growth of domestic soccer in the U.S. She also played significant roles in the international arena, contributing to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s successes and advocating for equal pay in women’s sports. Press’s legacy will extend beyond the field as she continues her advocacy and involved projects, including her lifestyle brand, RE-INC, which aims to promote inclusivity in sports media.
