Joel Embiid Makes Comeback: 76ers Star Scores 14 Points in Preseason Match Against Timberwolves

Joel Embiid returned to the court for the 76ers, scoring 14 points in his preseason debut, providing hope for a healthier season ahead.

On Friday, Philadelphia 76ers’ star Joel Embiid showcased his skills in a preseason debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring 14 points, along with eight assists, seven rebounds, and three steals in just 18 minutes of play. Embiid, who shot 5 of 10 from the field, exited the game with 6:13 left in the third quarter.

Having ramped up his practice intensity, Embiid’s return ahead of the regular-season opener against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday appears promising. This comes as the 76ers have grappling with significant injuries over recent seasons, particularly concerning Embiid, who has played only 58 games in the last two years due to knee issues.

His limited appearances have hindered the team’s ability to establish momentum. Moreover, Paul George is also sidelined, as he isn’t expected to participate in the season opener due to his injury.

However, Embiid’s comeback offers a glimmer of hope for the 76ers, aiming to make an impact in a competitive Eastern Conference. Embiid expressed optimism at the team’s media day, stating he felt “pretty good” leading up to this return. He emphasized the importance of playing consistently and overcoming his previous injury challenges. “I want to play every single game,” he noted, hoping this season will bring more opportunities for him and his teammates, including Tyrese Maxey.

If healthy, the 76ers could be among the top contenders in the East, benefiting from a deep roster and the return of key players such as Embiid, George, and Maxey.
