Jets Remain Winless After Embarrassing Week 7 Loss, Are on 0-17 Alert

The New York Jets are yet to win this season, dropping to 0-7 after a crushing defeat. The performance raises concerns over their future.

On their journey to build a winning team, the New York Jets are still searching for their first victory of the season, now sitting at 0-7 under head coach Aaron Glenn. Their latest defeat, a 13-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers, marks a dismal start, aligning with the worst records in team history during the first part of the season.

After a disappointing first half yielding only three points, Glenn opted to bench quarterback Justin Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor. Fields concluded his game with six successful completions on twelve attempts for only 46 yards and 22 rushing yards, while Taylor’s performance wasn’t much better, leading the team to yet another field goal but throwing two interceptions and completing 10 of 22 passes for 126 yards.

Regardless of the quarterback choice, it’s clear that the Jets are struggling at that position, which contributes to their bleak outlook combined with a defense that frequently gives up crucial plays, an ever-growing list of injuries (with Sauce Gardner needing evaluation for a concussion this very week), and questionable coaching choices, posing the question: Will the New York Jets manage to secure a win in 2025, or are they doomed to an 0-17 record?

If they fail to win any games, they would join the ranks of the Cleveland Browns from 2017 and the Detroit Lions from 2008, who are both on record for such dismal seasons in the NFL.

What’s increasingly alarming for New York is their schedule moving forward. Having played four of their first seven games at home, their remaining fixtures offer no respite, with only four further home games accessible. Plus, they’ll face half of their remaining ten competitors with winning records, mostly away from MetLife Stadium. The exception includes one matchup with the Cleveland Browns in Week 9 and Miami Dolphins in Week 14, who humiliated the Jets back in Week 4.

Here’s a look at the Jets’ remaining regular-season agenda:

Week Opponent
Week 8 at Cincinnati Bengals
Week 9 BYE
Week 10 vs. Cleveland Browns
Week 11 at New England Patriots
Week 12 at Baltimore Ravens
Week 13 vs. Atlanta Falcons
Week 14 vs. Miami Dolphins
Week 15 at Jacksonville Jaguars
Week 16 at New Orleans Saints
Week 17 vs. New England Patriots
Week 18 at Buffalo Bills

Their chances of breaking this undesired record might rest on these two remaining games against Miami in Week 14 and Buffalo in Week 18. Should the Bills secure their playoff position beforehand, the Jets might find themselves meeting backups, giving them a potential opportunity. But whether they can overcome their mounting challenges remains to be seen.

It seems probable that regardless of obtaining a single win, it’s likely this organization will consider a complete overhaul, leading to changes from the coaching staff to the quarterback position.

These are not the “Same ol’ Jets.” They might be even worse.
