Jayden Daniels Injury Update: Commanders QB's Hamstring Issue Not Major, Yet Uncertain for Chiefs Match

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels faces uncertainty regarding his playing status following a hamstring tweak, although it's reportedly not a significant injury.

The Washington Commanders have faced several injury challenges this NFL season, and the recent loss to the Cowboys raised alarms when QB Jayden Daniels exited due to a hamstring injury. Head Coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Monday that although the injury isn’t deemed significant or long-term, Daniels’ availability for the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs is still unclear.

“I’ll have a better sense as I get closer to it, with the extra day and what that looks like,” Quinn said. “But the good news came back that it’s not a long-term thing … but I’ll have a better feel for you guys when we get to Thursday.”

Daniels previously dealt with a knee sprain this season, allowing backup Marcus Mariota to take the reins for two games, resulting in a 1-1 record. Hamstring injuries are notorious for the risk of aggravation if a player returns too soon, but with an extra day before the Monday night match, there’s hope Daniels could suit up against the formidable Chiefs.

Despite no serious damage revealed in the MRI, this news brings a rare breath of relief for a Commanders squad that has been enduring their share of injuries. The offensive lineup is already missing key receivers, including Deebo Samuel, Terry McLaurin, and Noah Brown, while the defense has lost sack leader Dorrance Armstrong for the season due to a knee injury.
