Raiders Anticipate Returns of Bowers and Meyers for Week 9 Amid Injury Woes

The Raiders face a tough period as they enter their Week 8 bye with injuries affecting key players.

The Las Vegas Raiders hope to welcome back two crucial players from injury soon. Coach Pete Carroll announced on Monday that tight end Brock Bowers (knee) and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (knee/toe) are expected to be back after the team’s Week 8 bye, aiming for their matchup in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In their previous game during Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs, both players were inactive due to their injuries, contributing to a disappointing 31-0 shutout loss.

Bowers has participated in four games this season, recording 19 receptions on 27 targets for 225 yards and no touchdowns. Meyers has played six games, starting them all, with 29 catches on 43 targets for 329 yards, also without any touchdowns. The Raiders currently rank near the bottom of the league in total passing yards (1,425), touchdown passes (seven), and yards per attempt (7.0). They are tied with the Miami Dolphins for the most interceptions (10). The return of Bowers and Meyers is expected to boost Geno Smith’s performance significantly. Last season, Bowers led the team with 1,194 receiving yards and five touchdowns, while Meyers was the team’s top wide receiver with 1,027 yards and four touchdowns.

As the Raiders head into their bye week with a 2-5 record, they occupy the last position in the AFC West.
