FOX Sports Set to Revolutionize Broadcast with 2026 FIFA World Cup Coverage
FOX Sports will air an unprecedented number of matches live for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, setting a new record in network television history.
The world’s premier sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, is poised to set significant television milestones come next summer.
FOX Sports revealed this week that it will broadcast all 104 matches from the 2026 FIFA World Cup live across its networks, with a record-setting 69 matches showing on FOX and 35 on FS1. Moreover, every match will be made available for live streaming on the FOX One and FOX Sports App.
This impressive count of 69 live matches marks a historic milestone in network television, significantly exceeding the 34 matches broadcast during the 2022 tournament.
FOX Sports will also provide more than 340 hours of original programming centered around this prestigious event—100 hours more than it aired in 2022. This coverage will feature pre- and post-match analysis, with a focus on evening broadcasts, unlike any previous World Cup.
“The 2026 FIFA World Cup coverage will be the most extensive production in our company’s history, and we’re thrilled to showcase this monumental event with an unprecedented number of matches on television,” stated Eric Shanks, CEO of FOX Sports. “This tournament promises to be a unique television event with a plethora of teams, superstars, and memorable moments that will attract viewers everywhere.”
The complete broadcast schedule is expected to be revealed after the World Cup draw, which takes place on December 5 and will be broadcast live from the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
As it stands, next summer’s World Cup will be the sixth time FOX Sports has showcased this celebrated tournament. After previously covering men’s tournaments in 2018 (Russia) and 2022 (Qatar), as well as the women’s tournaments in 2015 (Canada), 2019 (France), and 2023 (Australia & New Zealand), the network is well-prepared for the upcoming event. Over the last decade, it has earned various accolades, including eight Sports Emmy Awards, highlighting its mastery in World Cup coverage.
The 2026 World Cup will be unique as it occurs across three nations — the United States, Mexico, and Canada — hosting 48 teams for a total of 104 matches in 16 locations. In the U.S., eleven cities including Atlanta, Boston, and Los Angeles will host matches. As the U.S. men’s national team approaches their twelfth World Cup appearance, their group stage matches will be held on June 12 (Los Angeles), June 19 (Seattle), and June 25 (Los Angeles).
