Lionel Messi Signs Extension with Inter Miami Until 2028, Club Reveals Strategic Announcement

Lionel Messi extends his contract with Inter Miami through 2028, marking a significant commitment as the club prepares for a new era.

Ahead of the MLS Cup Playoffs starting Friday against Nashville SC, Inter Miami has released a video of Lionel Messi signing a new contract extension lasting until 2028 at their new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, set to open before the 2026 season. This extension keeps the Argentine superstar in Miami beyond the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The announcement strategy highlights Messi’s significant influence on Miami’s transformation into MLS Cup contenders, as he becomes the club’s leading scorer and led them to their first trophy ever. The new Miami Freedom Park will mark a major upgrade for the club.

Messi stated, “It makes me really happy to stay here and to continue with this project that, besides being a dream, has become a beautiful reality — playing in this stadium, at Miami Freedom Park.”
“We’re all really excited about the moment when we can finally play at Miami Freedom Park… It’s going to be something very special to play at home in such a spectacular stadium,” he added.

With the playoffs underway, Messi hopes to repeat his successful campaign with 29 goals and 19 assists last season, focusing on achieving the first MLS Cup title for Miami.
