On Thursday, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays announced their starting pitchers for Friday’s Game 1 of the 2025 World Series at Rogers Centre. The Dodgers will feature lefty ace Blake Snell, while Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage takes the mound. The game begins at 8 p.m. ET.
Snell, 32, is set to make his fourth postseason start of the year, boasting an impressive ERA of 0.86 with 28 strikeouts and five walks over his last three outings. Notably, he pitched an eight-inning masterpiece against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, striking out 10 batters while allowing just one hit. During the regular season with the Dodgers, Snell had a 2.35 ERA (177 ERA+) despite only making 11 starts due to shoulder inflammation.
Yesavage, at just 22 years and 88 days old, will become the second-youngest Game 1 starter in World Series history, following Ralph Branca of the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers. Yesavage made only three major league starts this season with a 3.21 ERA, alongside three playoff starts with a 4.20 ERA.
“It’s something I never even would have dreamed of, but I’m here now and I’m embracing it fully and I’m so happy to be here,” Yesavage expressed.
Snell will be making his first start since October 13.
