Crystal Palace's Progress Since Eberechi Eze Left for Arsenal Ahead of Key Match

This article discusses how Crystal Palace has thrived in the Premier League following Eberechi Eze's transfer to Arsenal, highlighting their attacking prowess and player performances.

If there was a summer transfer that seemed to benefit everyone involved, it was Eberechi Eze’s move to Arsenal. The player himself found his way back to the club where his journey began, welcomed back by fans eager to see him shine. Arsenal enhanced their squad with the talented midfielder, adding much-needed creativity to Mikel Arteta’s setup. While the transfer fee was substantial at $90 million, Crystal Palace’s compensation was less clear, yet they are showing promise to future stars in the EFL, indicating they won’t keep players against their will.

Surprisingly, rather than faltering without their key player, Palace’s attack has flourished, emerging as the most potent threat in the league based on expected goals (xG). Eze may have topped the team’s charts in assists and chances created, yet his absence has indirectly propelled the team’s offensive efforts.

More than just a player, Eze was a key figure at Selhurst Park, delivering crucial performances, including scoring in the FA Cup Final that clinched Palace’s first major trophy.

Without a single player capable of fully replacing Eze, Oliver Glasner has effectively improved the team overall. Their strategic signing, Yeremy Pino, who transitioned seamlessly from Villarreal, embodies this strategy, stating he can adjust to the English game thanks to his technical skills.

The new players have already established a fruitful partnership, and although Ismaila Sarr has altered his approach, focusing on quality over quantity, he remains a great asset.

Current statistics indicate that Adam Wharton is creating chances at an impressive rate, while Jean-Philippe Mateta continues to demonstrate he is of Champions League caliber, keeping pace with some of the league’s best.

The apparent disparity in the current table could misrepresent Palace’s true capabilities, as they have outperformed defensively yet are comparatively low in goal tally. However, with the firepower they possess, this is expected to change, marking them as a formidable opponent for anyone, even league leaders.
