U.S. International Defender Faces Long Recovery from Achilles Injury
Cameron Carter-Vickers, a key player for the U.S. national team, is set to miss several months following an Achilles injury sustained during a match.
U.S. international Cameron Carter-Vickers will be on the sidelines for several months due to an Achilles injury, confirmed by manager Brendan Rodgers last Friday.
Rodgers forecasts that Carter-Vickers might miss approximately three to five months, putting his availability for the World Cup next summer at risk.
The 27-year-old defender felt discomfort during Celtic’s 2-1 win against Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Rodgers had already made two substitutions for injuries during the first half and used his last substitution option in the 78th minute, which limited his options.
“We wanted to take off Cameron but we could only make one substitution in the second half. Ideally, we would have taken him off,” remarked Rodgers after the match.
The manager provided additional details, stating the injury was specifically to the Achilles.
Another U.S. international, Auston Trusty, may be called up as a substitute for Carter-Vickers, who represented the U.S. during the 2022 World Cup.
