Arch Manning Injured: Texas Quarterback Exits Overtime Clash Against Mississippi State

In a dramatic overtime win, Texas' Arch Manning suffered an injury after hitting his head on the turf, leading to a victory over Mississippi State.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning left the game against Mississippi State after the first play of overtime on Saturday, appearing to hit his head on the turf. Manning made a 13-yard scramble but was met by a defender upon falling. He was seen walking off the field with trainers towards the medical tent.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had no immediate updates on Manning’s condition after the match.

After his exit, Matthew Caldwell entered and threw the winning touchdown pass to Emmett Mosley V. The Texas defense made an essential stop on the next drive to secure a 45-38 win.

Manning had already compounded a previous injury earlier in the game, having visited the medical tent following a first-quarter touchdown run, but managed to return for his next drive. Despite trailing by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter, Manning helped rally his team back.

A pivotal moment saw Texas tie the game at 38, thanks to a 79-yard kick return by Ryan Niblett, which sent the game into overtime. The Longhorns notched their second consecutive overtime road victory following their previous defeat of Kentucky last week.

Manning was having an impressive outing prior to his injury, completing 29 of 46 passes for 346 yards, along with three touchdowns, including a 3-yard rushing touchdown.
