Puka Nacua's Ankle Recovery: Rams WR Set to Play Against Saints in Week 9

Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is expected to return in Week 9 after missing time due to an ankle injury. Coach Sean McVay is optimistic about his return to practice.

Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua is anticipated to rejoin the field in Week 9 for the game against the New Orleans Saints. Coach Sean McVay confirmed on Monday that he expects Nacua, recovering from an ankle injury, to practice on Wednesday and participate in this weekend’s match.

Nacua was day-to-day prior to the last game but was ultimately ruled out of the Week 7 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars as they took a break following their international game. The bye week allowed him to recover, missing just one complete game.

The injury occurred while he attempted a touchdown catch during the Week 6 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Despite returning briefly in the second half, he was limited in participation and recorded no further catches.

Nacua had an impressive season start, leading the NFL with 52 receptions in five games, setting a record for the most catches to start a season with 616 yards, and scoring two touchdowns.

While Nacua was unavailable, quarterback Matthew Stafford excelled, throwing five touchdown passes against the Jaguars and completing passes to ten different players. Davante Adams stepped up as the leading receiver during Nacua’s absence but will transition back to a secondary role upon his return.

In addition to Nacua, right tackle Rob Havenstein is also expected to practice this week after missing three games due to an ankle injury.
