MLS Playoff Action Kicks Off: Messi and Inter Miami Set the Stage

The MLS Cup journey begins with the wildcard round leading up to the playoffs, featuring key matches with top teams.

On Wednesday, the push for the MLS Cup trophy begins with the wildcard matches. The Chicago Fire, Orlando City SC, Portland Timbers, and Real Salt Lake will all strive to advance to the official playoff rounds. In the Western Conference, the winner between Portland and Salt Lake will meet San Diego FC, while in the East, the winner between Chicago and Orlando will take on the Supporters’ Shield winners, Philadelphia Union.

The wildcard round is a single-elimination match before transitioning to a best-of-three series for the first round. The higher seed hosts the first game, the second match is away, and if necessary, the deciding game returns to a knockout format.
