Cubs Pursue More Moves as Spring Training Approaches

With spring training on the horizon, the Chicago Cubs are not done adding to their roster, while the Red Sox target a right-handed hitter.

Cubs Not Done Adding to Roster

As spring training approaches, Cubs manager Craig Counsell states, “No, we’re not done. I don’t think you ever consider yourself done building a roster. Whether big or small (moves), I don’t think you should consider yourself done.” He expresses the desire to explore options even at this late stage in the offseason.

A potential addition to the Cubs is Alex Bregman, a veteran infielder known for his impactful play. Bregman could reunite with former teammates, including Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly. The Cubs are among several teams interested in acquiring him.

Despite a slump last season, Nolan Arenado of the Cardinals is another target for the Cubs, as they pursue offseason improvements. Red Sox executive Craig Breslow confirmed that his team is also looking for right-handed power to strengthen their lineup.
