The Los Angeles Dodgers managed to push the World Series to a decisive Game 7 by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in Game 6. The tension of the game reached its peak in the bottom of the ninth inning, where bizarre events unfolded.
Ninth Inning Drama: Toronto’s catcher Alejandro Kirk was the first to reach base after a splitter by Dodgers reliever Roki Sasaki hit him on the hand. Following him, Addison Barger hit a double that could have easily scored pinch-runner Myles Straw. However, the ball got lodged between the wall and the warning track, resulting in a dead ball.
At that point, with runners on second and third and no outs, the chance of Toronto winning increased to 43%. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts then brought in Tyler Glasnow to close the game. He quickly retired Ernie Clement but had an unexpected challenge from Andrés Giménez, whose batted ball had a high expected batting average of .710.
Expectations shifted again when Kiké Hernández made an incredible catch in left field, showcasing his instinct to play shallower in response to the game’s tense situation. Ultimately, his catch led to an out, and in a flurry of action, Miguel Rojas managed to tag out Barger, sealing Game 6 and ensuring a Game 7 showdown.
