Watching Tyler Adams play for Bournemouth against the formidable Manchester City on Sunday illustrated the current ups and downs of the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT).
In the first half, Adams netted his initial English Premier League goal against Pep Guardiola’s team. However, he limped off late in the second half after suffering a knee injury.
As of now, no official update on Adams’ condition has been announced. Despite the USMNT’s medical team expressing optimism regarding his injury, there’s uncertainty about whether he will be selected when Coach Mauricio Pochettino announces his finalized roster for the upcoming friendlies later this week.
Star forward Christian Pulisic is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained on October 14 while playing for the U.S. in a friendly against Australia. Even if he returns for AC Milan in next weekend’s Serie A match versus Parma, Milan may prefer to keep him in Italy this month.
With two upcoming friendlies scheduled (against Paraguay on November 15 and another against Uruguay on November 18), Pochettino’s team appears to be facing significant injury challenges, which may create opportunities for other players as preparations for the 2026 World Cup ramp up.
Predicted Roster:
- Goalkeepers: Matt Freese, Matt Turner, Patrick Schulte
- Defenders: Noahkai Banks, Chris Richards, Tim Ream, Mark McKenzie, Miles Robinson, Daniil Arsenev, Sergiño Dest
- Midfielders: Tyler Adams, Sebastian Berhalter, Johnny Cardoso, Diego Luna, Weston McKennie, Yunus Musah
