Luciano Spalletti has recently taken charge as the head coach of Juventus, succeeding Igor Tudor amid a significant managerial shift. The team’s recent matches show a promising yet slightly shaky start, having scored three goals and conceded two over two matches. Notably, Spalletti’s tactics have redefined Teun Koopmeiners’s role, placing him as a left center back, which allows him to initiate attacks effectively.
Koopmeiners, who transferred to Juventus from Atalanta for around $50 million in summer 2024, is adjusting to this pivotal position, having previously experienced varied roles in midfield. In a recent statement, he expressed confidence in his new role, stating, “I feel very comfortable in this position… I like to drive forward with the ball.”
This tactical change is expected to significantly impact Juventus’s gameplay as they seek to reclaim their status at the top of Italian football.
