The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with multiple injuries, particularly affecting their starting quarterback. Brock Purdy has been sidelined due to a turf toe injury, missing seven games so far. Coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Mac Jones will continue to lead the offense as the starter for another game ahead of their matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. While Purdy is labeled as questionable for the Week 10 game, his role is likely limited to backup if he makes the roster.
Shanahan mentioned, “We’re trying to ease Brock out there in practice, but this turf toe issue is something that might not fully heal this season. Regardless of when he’s back, he’ll have to manage it ongoing.” Shanahan commented this week.
Jones’s performance has improved this season, showing a completion rate of 67.2%, throwing for 1,832 yards with 10 touchdowns against five interceptions. His recent game against the New York Giants highlights his capability, where he completed 19 of 24 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Despite his success, it seems the 49ers will revert to their initial starting quarterback, Purdy, as soon as he demonstrates full recovery.
