Dallas Mavericks Await Kyrie Irving's Injury Update
Kyrie Irving is sidelined due to a back injury, leaving the Mavericks without their star player as they navigate through games.
Dallas guard Kyrie Irving is set to miss one to two weeks due to a bulging disc in his back. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd stated that the timeline for his recovery remains uncertain.
Kidd made these remarks prior to the upcoming match against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
“He’s out, so there’s nothing I can speculate or comment on,” Kidd mentioned. “It’s been reported he’s out a week or two.”
When questioned about Irving’s recovery timeline, Kidd added:
“Give me 48 hours to get that answer.”
Irving has been critical to the team’s scoring, averaging 24.3 points per game with a shooting percentage close to 50%, including 44.1% from three-point range. His absence, along with that of leading scorer Luka Doncic, who is out with a left calf strain, creates a significant gap in the Dallas offense, missing a combined total of 52.4 points per game.
“It’s important for everyone in uniform,” Kidd emphasized. “Being short-handed, it’s the next-man-up mentality. … We can’t replace Luka or Ky, so it’s going to take a team effort.”
Currently, the Mavericks hold a record of 20-15 and head into Monday’s game positioned third in the Southwest Division, trailing the top-placed Houston by three games.
