Dak Prescott Approaches Milestone in Passing Yards as He Nears Tony Romo's Record

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is just 160 yards shy of surpassing Tony Romo as the team's all-time leader in passing yards.

FRISCO, Texas – Certain records in sports carry significant weight. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has recorded some of predecessor Tony Romo’s franchise records, but the significant one he can achieve in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles is becoming the all-time Cowboys passing yards leader.

Romo currently leads with 34,183 yards, while Prescott is just 160 yards behind at 34,024. Prescott’s go-to receiver, CeeDee Lamb, believes Prescott will break the record within the first quarter on Sunday.

“Dak deserves it. He’s done a lot for this franchise and organization,” Lamb said. “He’s the epitome of a leader and a dynasty, basically. I have no doubt he’ll get that in the first quarter.”

Prescott admits that he foresaw this milestone due to a touch of arrogance he experienced as a rookie after being drafted in the fourth round of 2016 and winning Offensive Rookie of the Year.

“I’m humbled. Thankful to be healthy and to be in this position to do it,… When you play long enough, you understand that these milestones should naturally occur,” Prescott shared.

He acknowledges that the record is shared with many others, including Lamb, Pickens, Cooper, and Witten, all of whom have contributed to his success.

“It’s definitely something to be shared… I’m just a product of a lot of great players.”

Although breaking Romo’s record is significant, Prescott takes greater pride in being the Cowboys’ all-time completion percentage leader at 67.1%.

“Completion percentage is what I take the most pride in, it’s tough to achieve consistently,” Prescott noted.

Under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas holds one of the top offenses in the league, boasting impressive statistics across the board, with players like Prescott, running back Javonte Williams, and receiver George Pickens all ranking in the top five of their respective categories.
