Arman Tsarukyan almost derailed his main event against Dan Hooker at UFC Fight Night in Doha, Qatar. During the ceremonial weigh-ins, he unexpectedly headbutted Hooker, prompting swift intervention from UFC personnel. Both fighters had successfully made weight and faced each other for the media. However, Tsarukyan lunged over UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard’s arm, leading to the head butt. Fortunately, both fighters left unscathed from the incident, showing no visible injuries during the confrontation.

Currently, Tsarukyan holds the No. 1 spot in the UFC’s lightweight rankings, with a victory over Hooker potentially leading him to a title shot. Team officials expressed concerns that Tsarukyan’s actions could have resulted in penalties or even an injury to either competitor, with oversight by the Qatar Mixed Martial Arts Committee for the event. Following a previous withdrawal from a title fight due to injury, UFC CEO Dana White was quoted saying that Tsarukyan would have to work hard to reclaim his shot at the title. This incident marks yet another instance of Tsarukyan’s fiery demeanor, having faced suspension for previous altercations outside of the Octagon.
