MLB Rumors: Yankees Pursue Free-Agent Outfielders and Other Player Movements

As MLB's offseason unfolds, key rumors emerge about the Yankees' interest in outfielders Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger, alongside notable trades involving other teams.

The Major League Baseball offseason is fully underway, leading to a flurry of rumors. Here’s a compilation of the most significant news, player movements, and rumors from around the league this Friday.

Yankees in Talks with Star Outfielders

The New York Yankees have reached out to free-agent outfielders Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger, as confirmed by General Manager Brian Cashman. “We’d love to have Bellinger back,” Cashman stated, indicating that discussions are ongoing with agents for multiple free agents.

Tucker, regarded as the top available free agent, may attract attention from teams like the Toronto Blue Jays, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and others, should the Yankees pursue him seriously. Bellinger, who played for the Yankees last season after being acquired in a trade from the Chicago Cubs, is well-known to the team.

Cardinals’ Donovan Remains in Demand

Utility player Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals has garnered interest as a trade target, with teams such as the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals reportedly interested. The Yankees and New York Mets have also been mentioned in connection with Donovan’s potential move.

Donovan, who is 28, has shown impressive versatility and has two years of team control left.

Twins Acquire Catcher Alex Jackson

The Minnesota Twins have enhanced their catching options by acquiring veteran Alex Jackson from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor leaguer Payton Eeles. Jackson, who has had stints in the major leagues, may serve as a backup to Ryan Jeffers or share time, depending on the team’s strategy moving forward.

Jackson had a .220 batting average with five home runs last season in 36 games.
