Raptors Coach Criticizes Thompson's Late Dunk as Disrespectful

A late-game dunk by Tristan Thompson has drawn criticism from Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic, sparking a heated exchange among players.

Toronto Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic expressed displeasure over an emphatic dunk executed by Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers during the dying seconds of their game on February 13, 2025. With just four seconds on the clock, Thompson drove to the hoop to score, leading to a minor confrontation with Raptors players Scottie Barnes and Jamal Shead post-game. Rajakovic stated, “I think what Tristan did there was no class and disrespectful.”
Translation: Rajakovic emphasized the lack of class and respect shown by Thompson’s actions.

Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers’ coach, also found Thompson’s actions puzzling given his roots in nearby Brampton, Ontario. He noted that while Thompson’s intent was not malicious, it was an unfortunate display during gameplay.

The Cavaliers secured their eighth win out of their last nine games, notably led by Donovan Mitchell, who scored 21 points.
