Suns to Adjust Lineup: Beal and Nurkić on the Bench amid Trade Buzz
The Phoenix Suns make significant roster changes as they navigate trade discussions for Jimmy Butler.
The head coach of the Phoenix Suns, Mike Budenholzer, plans to bench Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkić for their upcoming game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, according to a report by Chris Haynes.
This bold move follows a rough four-game losing streak, leaving the Suns with a record of 15-18 and positioned 12th in the standings. Their last victory occurred against the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Day.
Additionally, this decision comes amid reports indicating the Suns’ interest in trading for Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, who is currently serving a seven-game suspension due to conduct detrimental to the team, including public comments concerning his future in Miami.
Ryan Dunn, selected at No. 28 in the 2024 NBA Draft, will start in place of Beal. Dunn averages 6.5 points per game this season with a shooting percentage of 43.3% in 29 games. Beal, a three-time All-Star, is averaging 17.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists across 23 starts.
Mason Plumlee will take Nurkić’s place in the lineup. Nurkić has started every game he was healthy for this season, while Plumlee has appeared in 32 games, tied for the team-high with Tyus Jones.
