MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox Linked to All-Star Catcher, D-backs Open to Offers for Ketel Marte

Latest trade rumors on MLB players highlight the Red Sox's interest in an All-Star catcher, plus the D-backs considering offers for infielder Ketel Marte.

MLB Rumors: Red Sox Eye All-Star Catcher; D-backs Listening on Star

Thanksgiving week in MLB rumors usually isn’t particularly eventful, but trades can always occur. Recently, the Red Sox made headlines by acquiring Sonny Gray from the Cardinals. Keep an eye out for potential additional moves in the duration of this week.

D-backs ‘Actively Listening’ on All-Star

The Diamondbacks are currently grappling with challenges involving infielder Ketel Marte due to past frustrations among teammates surrounding his time off after experiencing a burglary. Reports indicate the D-backs are ‘actively listening’ to offers concerning Marte, a three-time All-Star who had a notable season.

In 2025, Marte boasted an impressive stat line, hitting .283 with 28 homers and a WAR of 4.4. His potential fit on various teams hinges on managing second base availability, especially considering he is under contract through 2030 on a reasonable deal.

Bostons’ Interest in Realmuto

Despite not being a primary need, the Red Sox have expressed interest in signing free-agent catcher J.T. Realmuto, according to sources. While it seems likely he will return to the Phillies, the option remains open.

Last season, Realmuto played in 134 games, hitting .257 with 12 home runs. His performance, while not at his 2022 peak, still showcases his capability as a starting catcher.

Marlins and Stowers Talks Stalled

The Marlins engaged in talks to extend Kyle Stowers earlier this offseason. However, the discussions have hit a snag, with both sides reportedly far apart on contract figures.

Stowers, who had a breakout year in 2025, showed promising skills, ending with a .288 average and a whopping 25 home runs, but has been seeking an agreement similar to that of Bryan Reynolds’ extension ($106.5 million for eight years), while the Marlins proposed a significantly lower figure.

15 Teams Interested in Helsley Transition

Former Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley is drawing interest from over 15 teams as he considers transitioning to a starting pitcher following a disappointing season with the Mets. Helsley previously excelled as a closer, but his recent performances will lead him to contemplate a significant change in his career path.
