The U.S. men’s national team midfielder, Tyler Adams, executed one of the most remarkable goals of the current Premier League season on Saturday, launching a lob from nearly 50 yards for Bournemouth.
In the 15th minute of their match against Sunderland, Adams intercepted a loose ball in his own half, advanced across the halfway line, and unleashed a shot from near the center circle. It soared over the head of goalkeeper Robin Roefs and thudded into the net, marking a sensational moment at a rainy Stadium of Light.
According to statistics firm Opta, only Tim Howard has netted from a greater distance in Premier League history for the U.S. team, with a strike back in 2012.
This remarkable goal increased Bournemouth’s lead to 2-0 and represented Adams’ second goal in his last four matches, following a previous score against Manchester City on November 2. Adams had not scored for Bournemouth since transferring from Leeds in August 2023.
