Chase Stadium will host one more game as Inter Miami has booked their place in the MLS Cup final for the first time by defeating New York City FC 5-1 on Saturday night. For the first time during these playoffs, Miami scored a goal not involving Lionel Messi, as fellow Argentine Tadeo Allende opened the scoring with a hat trick, a critical moment given NYCFC pushed them the hardest despite the outcome.

The match score doesn’t reflect how competitive it was, but Miami’s finishing was effective. Allende has now scored eight goals in the MLS Cup playoffs, tying the record. Miami’s streak of 262 minutes without allowing a goal was interrupted when Justin Haack’s header brought NYCFC back briefly, but Mateo Silvetti quickly restored the two-goal lead and Miami did not look back.
The emotion showed in Coach Javier Mascherano, who celebrated Silvetti’s goal with enthusiasm, noting he has effectively managed his squad during the playoffs. Silvetti has stepped up in place of Luis Suarez and has combined with Messi to create four goals.
With this victory, players Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba will have their careers extended for seven more days, as they aim to retire at season’s end. Miami now prepares for a grand finish at Chase Stadium, eyeing their first MLS Cup, against the winner of the upcoming match between San Diego FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Despite already having lost in the Leagues Cup final this season, Miami is just 90 minutes away from securing a piece of silverware to cap off their campaign.
