We’re only a few days away from the Winter Meetings, and a trickle of moves has started to appear during the MLB offseason, hinting at a possible uptick in activity. Here’s the latest on December 3rd:
Dodgers Bring Back Rojas
The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed infielder Miguel Rojas to a one-year deal valued at $5.5 million. After the 2026 season, Rojas plans to retire to work in player development for the Dodgers. Earlier, CBS Sports ranked him as the 42nd top free agent available.
“Rojas will celebrate his 36th birthday in the spring and he hasn’t started more than 100 games in the past two seasons…”
This season, Rojas slashed .262/.318/.397 in 114 games, contributing significantly to the Dodgers’ World Series title.
Reds Re-sign Pagán
The Cincinnati Reds have re-signed right-hander Emilio Pagán with a two-year contract worth $20 million for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. CBS Sports ranked Pagán as the 37th best free agent this offseason.
“Pagán managed the second-best ERA+ of his career while generating a high amount of swing-and-misses.”
He pitched 68.2 innings with a 2.88 ERA last season.
Rays Sign Mullins
The Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to terms with Cedric Mullins on a one-year deal reportedly worth $7 million, pending a physical.
Mullins was previously ranked 41st among available free agents.
Brewers Considering Trade for Peralta
The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly considering trading ace Freddy Peralta due to significant interest in him from other teams. Peralta had a stellar season last year and is set to make $8 million next year before entering free agency.
Mariners Exploring Infield Options
The Mariners are in search of infield help with both Jorge Polanco and Eugenio Suárez as free agents. They are particularly interested in Polanco.
Astros Targeting Pitching Depth
After facing pitching injuries, the Houston Astros are looking to bolster their rotation, especially with Framber Valdez now a free agent.
Marlins Holding on to Alcantara and Cabrera?
Despite previous trade rumors surrounding Edward Cabrera and Sandy Alcantara, the Marlins are reportedly not actively looking to deal them, although Cabrera is considered more likely to be traded if it comes to it.
Blue Jays Open to Trading Berríos
Lastly, the Blue Jays are open to trading José Berríos, particularly after signing several new pitchers and with a full rotation in place.
