Commanders QB Jayden Daniels Injured Again During Vikings Match

Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders, suffered another injury to his previously dislocated elbow in Week 14 against the Vikings.

The Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels had to leave the game in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings after he fell heavily on his previously dislocated left elbow. This was Daniels’ first game back after suffering the earlier injury in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks. After throwing an interception, he attempted to chase down Andrew Van Ginkel when he was pushed to the ground by Isaiah Rodgers.

Daniels showed clear signs of distress as he left the field, and Marcus Mariota stepped in for him, but Mariota also threw an interception on his opening drive. After entering a medical tent, Daniels came out with a towel on his head and without the arm sleeve he had previously worn. The Commanders announced he was questionable to return.

This season has been challenging for Daniels, who sprained his knee in a Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, leading to a two-game absence. His return included a notable win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5, followed by a loss against the Chicago Bears in Week 6, after which he suffered a hamstring strain against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. He missed one additional game before re-entering play in Week 9, only to dislocate his elbow.

Washington, despite a dismal 3-9 record entering Week 14, was eager to allow Daniels to play upon being medically cleared to gain valuable game experience moving into the next season. Before this game, he had limited practice sessions but was a full participant in practices leading up to the game.

Quinn said on November 24: “I think it鈥檚 important as Jayden is learning to play this position at the highest level competitively, while also doing it safely. Reps are crucial; they help you develop the skills needed for the position.”
