In a rising narrative for early spring training, New York Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman has not yet joined workouts. This situation naturally sparked questions to manager Aaron Boone on Thursday, who acknowledged the unusual circumstances surrounding Stroman’s absence.
“Obviously, I want all our players here, clearly. That said, I am, again, comfortable with where he’s at physically and mentally,” Boone stated.
Stroman, living near the Yankees’ training facility, did report on Tuesday for his mandatory physical. The MLB and the Players Association’s agreement does not require him to attend workouts until February 22.
The focus on Stroman’s absence is heightened by uncertainty about his future with the Yankees, evidenced by past trade discussions, including a proposal involving the St. Louis Cardinals regarding their third baseman Nolan Arenado.
