NHL Power Rankings: Avalanche Maintain Top Position Amidst Challenges

Despite facing their first regulation loss in over a month, the Colorado Avalanche retain their rank as the top team in this week's NHL power ratings.

The Colorado Avalanche faced their first regulation loss in over a month during Week 9 of the 2025-26 NHL season, yet this was insufficient to knock them from first place in this week’s rankings. Despite losing 3-2 against the Boston Bruins on October 25, they extended their point streak to 17 games with a victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Following the lost, they rebounded with a strong performance against the New York Islanders, letting in the first four goals but ultimately went on to win their next matches against the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers.

The Vegas Golden Knights stood out as the only team maintaining a perfect record in Week 9, achieving victories in all three of their games. Other teams such as the Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, and the Toronto Maple Leafs also fared well with their records showing a 3-0-1 score.

In contrast, the Tampa Bay Lightning experienced a dismal week, losing four consecutive matches including two shutouts, leading to their drop from the top ten rankings.

As the season progresses, power ratings will reflect not only weekly performance but overall achievements throughout the 2025-26 NHL season.
