Cowboys’ Brian Schottenheimer on Philip Rivers’ Comeback
Rivers is returning to the NFL after a five-year retirement to aid a Colts team beset by injuries to their quarterbacks. Schottenheimer, who coached Rivers at the Chargers, observes that Rivers has always thrived on quick decision-making rather than mobility.
“Man, he must have hated coaching. I’m just happy for him. He loves football,” Schottenheimer remarked, emphasizing Rivers’ remarkable ability to react quickly on the field.
Rivers acknowledged his intention to employ a fast-paced offense and reflected on his return at his introduction press conference, stating: “I ain’t ran away from anybody anyway.”
