The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are finally gaining strength on their offense. On Wednesday, the team activated star wide receiver Mike Evans along with second-year wide receiver Jalen McMillan ahead of their match against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football.
Evans, aged 32, previously suffered a collarbone injury and a concussion during the first game back after recovering from a hamstring injury. Coach Todd Bowles stated that his collarbone injury would likely keep Evans sidelined for most of the remainder of the season, making his early return a positive sign for Tampa Bay.
Evans has achieved 14 catches for 140 yards and 1 touchdown, and although his streak of 11 consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons is over, his return is a significant boost for the Buccaneers.
In addition, Jalen McMillan, 23, had a promising rookie season with 37 catches for 461 yards and 8 touchdowns. He aims to return to the starting lineup after dealing with a severe neck sprain.
Buccaneers’ Injury History Tampa Bay’s time this season has been marred by multiple injuries. Notably, left tackle Tristan Wirfs underwent knee surgery, while wide receiver Chris Godwin missed crucial games due to leg and ankle injuries.
Despite these challenges, Tampa Bay sits at 7-6, currently leading the NFC South. Mayfield has recorded 2,722 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions this season.
Looking forward, the upcoming games against key division opponents are crucial for their playoff ambitions, particularly as they face the Panthers multiple times in a concentrated four-week span.
