Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh stated he is “still processing” the recent termination of Sherrone Moore, the Michigan coach, following his dismissal due to an improper relationship with a staff member.
Harbaugh commented on the situation during a media event last Friday, recalling how an equipment worker informed him of Moore’s firing.
“Chad Jessop told me, one of our equipment guys, when we were coming off the field on Thursday. So I’m still processing that like a lot of people.”
Moore joined Harbaugh’s Michigan team in 2018, initially as the tight ends coach, later becoming co-offensive coordinator in 2021 and taking sole charge of play-calling in 2023. Notably, he also filled in as Michigan’s acting head coach in 2023 when Harbaugh was suspended due to an investigation into Michigan’s sign-stealing practices.
Under Moore’s leadership alongside Harbaugh, Michigan achieved a remarkable 15-0 record in 2023, ultimately winning the College Football Playoff National Championship against Washington.
However, Moore, at age 39, was dismissed on December 10, 2025, after allegations emerged regarding his relationship with a staff member. He was found guilty of unlawfully entering a victim’s residence with intent to commit stalking and was charged with felony home invasion. In addition, he faces misdemeanor charges for stalking and unlawfully entering without permission.
