What is the format for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game?
The upcoming All-Star Game will introduce a new format featuring a U.S. vs. World matchup with three teams: two composed of U.S. players and one international team. Each team will consist of at least eight players, playing a round-robin schedule with four 12-minute games.
The top two teams following the round-robin stages will proceed to the championship game. In the event of a 1-1 tie among three teams, scores will be determined through point differentials from their round-robin performances.
How does NBA All-Star voting work?
The process maintains a selection of 24 players, with 12 from each conference. The five starters for each conference will gather votes split among fans (50%), current players (25%), and a media panel (25%). The next seven reserves from each conference are chosen by head coaches, and positional limitations have been removed this year. Final player allocation for the two U.S. teams will be disclosed later.
Should the voting fail to yield a minimum of 16 U.S. players and eight international players, the NBA will step in to add players as necessary, and Commissioner Adam Silver will oversee those additions.
How are reserves selected?
Head coaches select the reserves, but they cannot vote for their own players, ensuring a fair selection process.
How will the teams be picked?
The selection remains the same, with fans voting comprising 50% of the starter selection, while current players and a media panel account for the remaining share. Coaches will select seven reserves per conference, all without positional restraints. Any insufficient totals will prompt the Commissioner to add players to meet the quotas.
Who will coach the 2026 NBA All-Star Game?
The head coaches of the teams holding the best records from both the Eastern and Western Conferences will mentor their respective All-Star teams, while the assistants will lead the other teams in the tournament.
What is the prize money?
An overall prize pool of $1.8 million is allocated for the All-Star Game. Players on the winning team will receive $125,000 each, $50,000 for the runners-up, and semifinalist players will earn $25,000 each.

Mark your calendars for February 15, 2026, when the All-Star Game is scheduled to commence at 5 p.m. ET at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California (home of the Clippers).
