Impact of Jaguars vs. Broncos on Jacksonville's AFC South Title Chances

A detailed analysis of how Jacksonville's upcoming game against Denver could influence their chances to win the AFC South.

With the Kansas City Chiefs’ dominance over the AFC waning, the football landscape is ripe for change. The Denver Broncos are currently leading the league with a remarkable 12-2 record, fueled by an impressive 11-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots, boasting an 11-3 record, have MVP candidate Drake Maye, who leads the NFL with a completion rate of 70.9%.

The Buffalo Bills can’t be overlooked, having established their presence under quarterback Josh Allen, who is known for both his powerful arm and agility. The Houston Texans, with a commendable defensive record, also pose a threat in this tight race.

Despite being the current leaders of the AFC South with a 10-4 record, the Jacksonville Jaguars find themselves behind in betting odds, rated at +650 to win the conference, trailing the Broncos, Bills, Texans, and Patriots.

When the Jaguars take on the Broncos at Empower Field this Sunday, the stakes couldn’t be higher. A victory could significantly boost their chances of clinching the division title, raising their odds of winning the AFC South from 50% to 74.5%. Conversely, a defeat would diminish those chances to 37.2%.

The Jaguars follow up their clash with the Broncos with two more games that they are likely favored in, creating windows of opportunity for them. However, losing could hand the division lead over to the Texans, who are currently in second place.

“Playing in a crucial match in December is a worthy challenge for us,” Jaguars coach Liam Coen said of his team’s upcoming game against a strong Broncos squad. “It’s a great opportunity to earn every bit of success we can achieve this season.”
