The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the process of finalizing a three-year, $60 million extension with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, as reported by ESPN. The agreement includes $40 million guaranteed.
Meyers, 29, was supposed to be a free agent following this season but has now secured the long-term deal he aimed to find with the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the season. His acquisition from the Raiders, in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round picks near the trade deadline, has significantly enhanced the Jaguars’ offensive capabilities. Since joining, Meyers has led the team in receptions with 27, yards with 355, and has tallied 3 touchdowns, making only one drop, which was a pivotal factor in his acquisition according to Jaguars’ GM, James Gladstone.
“We’re excited to see how his skills integrate into our system,” said Gladstone. “His ability to hold on to the ball is a major asset for our lineup.”
Meyers has not only proven to be a reliable option but a core piece for the Jaguars as he contributes to Trevor Lawrence’s remarkable form during the team’s ongoing five-game winning streak. He has emerged as the top receiver in the league for catches on ‘In’ routes over the last five weeks.
