Former NASCAR Champion Greg Biffle Dies in Plane Crash at 55

Greg Biffle, a prominent figure in NASCAR, tragically lost his life in a plane crash in North Carolina alongside family members.

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle tragically passed away at the age of 55 in a plane crash at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina. Alongside him, three of his family members, including his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder, lost their lives in the accident. The plane crash occurred shortly after 10:15 a.m. while attempting to land.

The plane was registered to a company that Biffle owned and had taken off from the airport shortly before returning for a landing attempt. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, all six individuals aboard the Cessna C550 were confirmed fatalities.

NASCAR expressed their heartbreak over the loss: “NASCAR is devastated by the tragic loss of Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, son Ryder, Craig Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton in a fatal plane crash.” The organization celebrated Biffle not just for his achievements on the track but also for his contributions to the community, including humanitarian efforts post Hurricane Helene.

Biffle’s career featured impressive accomplishments, including 19 wins and 175 top-10 finishes in over 500 races. He was recognized as one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers in 2023.
