Liverpool’s Alexander Isak is suspected of having broken his leg during the team’s recent victory against Tottenham Hotspur, which may keep him out for several months, according to The Athletic.
Details about the injury’s severity are still pending as the club anticipates MRI results, but initial fears point to a serious issue. If diagnosed with a lower leg fracture, Isak would face an extensive recovery period before returning to play.
The injury occurred in the 56th minute, shortly after Isak substituted in for Conor Bradley. After scoring, he was challenged by Spurs’ Micky van de Ven and landed awkwardly, resulting in his immediate need for medical assistance.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot, unsure about the injury’s extent post-match, remarked: “If a player doesn’t even try to come back, that is usually not a good thing, but I cannot say anything more than that. Let’s not be too negative yet.”
Isak had scored his second goal of the Premier League season right before the unfortunate incident. His absence is significant as Liverpool navigates a crucial stretch of the season, particularly with compatriots Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo also sidelined. Additionally, Liverpool may need to explore the transfer market for potential reinforcements, especially as they have reportedly reached an agreement for Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

Sweden’s World Cup Qualification Fate
Should the injury be confirmed as a broken leg, Isak would miss key World Cup qualifiers in March. Sweden is set to play Ukraine on March 26, with the possibility of facing Poland or Albania thereafter for a spot in the upcoming World Cup. Isak had previously participated in three qualifiers but failed to score, while Sweden managed to reach the playoff round thanks to their UEFA Nations League performance.
