Neymar has reportedly finalized his future by signing a new contract with Santos, putting an end to rumors linking him with a move to Inter Miami or a return to European football. The Brazilian star, who returned to Santos in January 2025, will remain with the club until the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup finals.
Neymar contract: Duration of new deal
According to Globo Esporte, Neymar’s contract with Santos extends until December 31, 2026. Earlier, it seemed that the 33-year-old might explore new opportunities after becoming a free agent.
Currently, Neymar is rehabilitating from knee surgery and prefers the familiarity of being close to family and friends.
Neymar’s cost to Santos
While Santos is pleased with Neymar’s commitment, reports indicate his monthly salary could equate to that of four or five normal players. Additionally, he has a lucrative agreement for image rights with NR Sports.
Neymar opted to stay after a strong finish to the 2025 season where he notched five goals in seven matches, helping to steer Santos clear of relegation.
World Cup aspirations: Neymar’s commitment
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals from 128 appearances, has been sidelined since September 2023 due to knee ligament damage but aims to be prepared for the upcoming World Cup. He expressed, “We will do everything possible, even the impossible, to bring this World Cup back to Brazil.”
Neymar has missed significant time due to injuries while at Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, and despite speculation linking him with MLS and teams in Europe, he is focused on recovering and performing for Santos and the national team.
