PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl brings out the best in the city, or worst depending what side of the fence you’re on. Before the Eagles celebrated their second championship parade in seven years, Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro called into CBS Philadelphia to discuss the championship victory.
“I’m so damn proud of this team,” Shapiro said during the call. “People love to hate on the Eagles. People love to hate on Philly. I think we became America’s Team in all of this. I hope Dallas hears this.”
Shapiro, an avid Eagles fan, grew up in Dresher, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. He served as Attorney General from 2017 to 2023, and has made a political mark as Governor since his election in 2024.
To illustrate how the Eagles and Cowboys franchises have diverged, the Eagles achieved as many postseason victories this year as the Cowboys have earned since their last Super Bowl win in 1995 (four). Jalen Hurts has two more playoff wins as a quarterback than the entire Cowboys franchise since their last Super Bowl title.
The Eagles have participated in eight conference championship games this century, while the Cowboys have been absent from any. A marked change in fortune.
Shapiro also made appearances on SportsRadio WIP this week praising the Eagles and was on hand in New Orleans to watch them defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, solidifying his status as one of the Eagles’ most prominent fans as his political career ascends.
