Sam Leavitt's Visit to Miami: A Potential New Lead for the Hurricanes

Quarterback Sam Leavitt from Arizona State is exploring options, including a visit to Miami, as he enters the transfer portal.

Sam Leavitt, the quarterback from Arizona State and currently the top-ranked player in the transfer portal, is exploring new options. He has already visited LSU and Tennessee during this transfer cycle and is set to hear from the Miami Hurricanes soon, as reported by CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer.

The Hurricanes aim to find a leading quarterback to replace Carson Beck, who will make his final appearance for the team on January 19 during the national championship game ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Beck has made significant contributions with 3,581 yards and 29 touchdowns across 15 games.

In addition to Leavitt, other quarterbacks like Alabama’s Ty Simpson are also being considered as potential fits in Miami’s offensive strategy. Simpson, who recently entered the NFL draft, could influence the transfer portal landscape depending on his decisions in the coming weeks.

During the 2024 transfer cycle, players like Cam Ward switched teams briefly before making decisive moves, setting a precedent for future transfers.

Both Leavitt, with a strong offensive background, and Simpson are regarded as ideal fits for Miami’s operations under offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson.
