The NFL’s head coach hiring cycle was dramatically altered last week when the Baltimore Ravens fired John Harbaugh. With Harbaugh now available, he has become the leading candidate among the seven teams seeking to fill head coaching positions.
Harbaugh has not officially interviewed yet but has received interest and will likely narrow his options to three or four teams for interviews. Reports indicate that he has already had preliminary discussions with the Browns, Cardinals, Dolphins, Falcons, Giants, Raiders, and Titans.
As he evaluates opportunities, here are three teams that may serve as the best fits for him:
3. Tennessee Titans
Harbaugh has recently analyzed film of young quarterbacks, including Cam Ward, who showed promise during a tough season for the Titans. With significant cap space to play with and an early draft pick, the Titans are poised for a rebuild, making them an appealing option for a coach like Harbaugh.
2. Atlanta Falcons
With Matt Ryan now serving as president and Harbaugh possibly joining as head coach, the Falcons could form a strong coaching duo. They have a stellar offensive roster featuring players like Bijan Robinson and Drake London, alongside a promising defense anchored by A.J. Terrell.
1. New York Giants
The Giants present a compelling case for Harbaugh due to their talented roster and young quarterback, Jaxson Dart, who brings considerable upside. With important defensive pieces in place and a high draft pick, New York is a prime candidate for a turnaround under Harbaugh’s leadership. Executives have already met informally with him to discuss the position.
