Chiefs Set Deadline for Kelce's Decision on NFL Future Following Super Bowl Loss

Travis Kelce, star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is considering his future in the NFL, with the Chiefs establishing a deadline for his decision after their Super Bowl defeat.

Fresh off an ugly Super Bowl LIX defeat, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is openly weighing retirement. He revealed on his “New Heights” podcast this week that he’s undecided on his NFL future following 12 seasons. The Chiefs have set a deadline for Kelce to inform them of his decision by around March 14.

That gives the 35-year-old Kelce about a month to decide. The Chiefs would like him back for a 13th season, but they want to know if he intends to retire before issuing an $11.5 million roster bonus on March 15.

“I know everybody wants to know whether I am playing next year, and right now I am just kicking everything down the road,” Kelce said. “I think I can play, but it’s whether or not I’m motivated or if it’s the best decision for me.”
