Ravens Owner Steve Bisciotti Comments on Mike Tomlin's Departure from the Steelers

After the news of Mike Tomlin's resignation as head coach of the Steelers, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti humorously suggested that Tomlin would only be a candidate for his team's coaching job if John Harbaugh takes over in Pittsburgh.

The NFL’s two longest-tenured coaches and longtime rivals are both free agents after the Ravens released John Harbaugh last week and Mike Tomlin stepped down from his role as Steelers coach on Tuesday.

While there were indications that Tomlin’s era in Pittsburgh could be concluding, the announcement of his departure following the Steelers’ Wild Card loss to the Texans shocked many across the league. The news even caught Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti off guard during a press conference regarding the search for a new head coach.

Upon learning about Tomlin’s exit, Bisciotti joked, “Only if John [Harbaugh] takes the Pittsburgh job.”

“Holy s**t,” tweeted Andrew Siciliano in response to the news.
“Holy shit, Mike, wouldn’t that be awesome?” Bisciotti said when asked if Tomlin could be a candidate. “Only if John takes the Pittsburgh job. Wow, wouldn’t that be interesting?”

The notion of a coach swapping places within rival AFC North teams seems unlikely, yet it poses the question of whether the Ravens would consider inquiring about Tomlin’s interest in the position. His future plans remain unknown, but numerous options will be available to him. Whether he opts for a return to coaching or a TV role, many networks would undoubtedly welcome him as an analyst. Should he pursue coaching, numerous teams may approach him for interviews.

In conclusion, while the Ravens may cringe at moments like the unforgettable chest-pounding from Tomlin, if general manager Eric DeCosta seeks to interview this rival coach, Bisciotti would be supportive.
