Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones were elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday night, joining Jeff Kent as inductees for the class of 2026. Players who receive a minimum of 75% of the votes secure a spot in Cooperstown during the summer.
Beltrán garnered 84.2% of the votes in his fourth appearance on the ballot. Jones received 78.4% in his ninth year.
New Candidates for 2027
The newcomers for the Hall of Fame ballot in 2027 include:
Buster Posey
Noted for lacking longevity yet expected to make it into the Hall, Posey stands a strong chance thanks to his impressive stats: .302 batting average with 1,500 hits.
Jon Lester
With 200 wins and experience in two World Series, Lester combines traditional metrics with modern stats, but faces a tough pathway for induction.
Brett Gardner, Kyle Seager, and Ryan Zimmerman
- Gardner tallied 1,470 hits in 39th place among left fielders.
- Seager achieved 1,395 hits and ranks 49th among third basemen.
- Zimmerman’s 1,846 hits secure him the 42nd position for third basemen.
Additional newcomers include Jake Arrieta and Andrew Miller among others, while Cole Hamels debuted with 23.8%.
This year’s ballot promises excitement, especially with Posey leading the charge.
