After playing 13 seasons in the NFL, Travis Kelce has yet to announce whether he intends to return for another year. However, during a recent episode of “The New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason, he hinted at his future plans.
In this episode, Jason mentioned the return of Eric Bieniemy as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. Bieniemy, who was with the Chiefs since 2013, left in 2023, and is now rejoining the team. Kelce expressed his excitement, stating, “I love that, shit. I think it’s great.”
When speaking about Bieniemy, Kelce said, “I can’t wait to see him back in the building. He’s one of my favorite coaches of all-time, one of my favorite people of all time. […] It’s going to be awesome to see him back and wearing the Chiefs logo, baby.”
If Kelce chooses to retire, he wouldn’t get the chance to see Bieniemy at the facility, but the prospect of one more season alongside his favorite coach appears to motivate him. “I think it’s a marriage that’s gonna pick up right where it left off,” he mused about Bieniemy’s return, emphasizing the positive impact he had on the team.
Despite Kelce’s uncertainty about retirement, teammate Chris Jones expressed confidence in his return, stating, “I’m not buying it, he’ll be back next year.” In the 2025 season, Kelce demonstrated his skills by leading the Chiefs in receptions, yardage, and touchdowns.
There are多理由 for Kelce to consider playing for at least one more year, including the desire to avoid ending his career on a disappointing season. With the Chiefs finishing 6-11, this could influence his decision deeply. Moreover, the Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes is eager to have Kelce back on the field, especially after recovering from injuries sustained during the 2025 season.
As Kelce navigates his future, he is also planning his upcoming wedding with fiancée Taylor Swift, expected to occur in June. Should he decide to play, offseason workouts commence in April, keeping him busy until then.
