Everton has revealed that Jack Grealish is experiencing a stress fracture in his foot, which will likely keep him out of action for approximately two months. The 30-year-old winger, who is currently on loan from Manchester City, had anticipated more regular playing time this season but now faces uncertainty about his place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Grealish’s Impact at Everton
Grealish had struggled for opportunities at Manchester City under manager Pep Guardiola, often remaining on the bench. His transition to Everton was seen as a necessary fresh start where he has already shown promise, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 20 league appearances during the first half of the season, aiding Everton’s rise to tenth place.
Injury Confirmation
However, his recent injury concerns have been confirmed by David Moyes, Everton’s manager. In a pre-match press conference, Moyes stated, “It’s a significant blow because he has been crucial for us this season. We’ve suffered several injuries, and losing him is not ideal.”
Grealish’s hopes for the World Cup now seem precarious, especially after he hasn’t featured for England under Thomas Tuchel, making his last appearance a 3-1 victory against Finland in 2024.
Return of Key Players
While Grealish’s absence is disappointing, Everton welcomes back players who had participated in the Africa Cup of Nations, including Idrissa Gana Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye. Moyes has confirmed that other key players are regaining fitness, hinting at an upcoming game against Leeds United that could be pivotal for their season.
